Il gruppo "STEFANO CARBONI & THE BRAND NEW BAND" nasce da un'idea di Stefano Carboni, da sempre estimatore e studioso del fraseggio e della musica soul e blues. Grazie all'incontro con il batterista e amico Antonio Vernuccio, fondatore della "BRAND NEW BAND" (nome storico del panorama musicale romano degli anni '90), si è concretizzata in un vero e proprio progetto la sua idea, cioè quella di creare una band che dedicasse un tributo non ad un solo artista, ma a più artisti, appartenenti alle tre più importanti case discografiche americane di musica nera: STAX-RECORDS, CHESS-RECORDS e MOTOWN! In seguito, grazie a fortunate coincidenze, si è configurata una band di altissimo livello con Stefano Carboni come Lead Vocals, Daniele Furlan (piano-keyboard- backing vocals), Fabio Pajoncini "The Duke" (Electric and Acoustic Guitar- backing vocals), Alberto Bronner (Electrc Bass) e naturalmente Antonio Vernuccio (drums). I cinque artisti, appassionati dello stesso genere musicale, ovvero la black music, e tutti con singole carriere da professionisti, in pochissimo tempo hanno realizzato un repertorio che spazia dal Blues all' R&B, dal Soul al Boogie-woogie fino al Rock and Roll. A fun, if politically incorrect, original piano boogie-woogie--instrumental only. The politically incorrect lyrics can wait for another time. At any rate, they're not that politically incorrect, because, heaven knows, some women ARE loud-mouthed; some men are, too; and loud-mouthed people can be very annoying. [And I think the lyrics are pretty funny, too, but I'm not entirely objective on that point.] This one kind of needs a real piano, I guess--my poor little electronic keyboard on its springy portable stand was shaking and jumping all over--giving a whole new meaning to the term "rock and roll." It was like trying to play the piano in an earthquake. That might have been part of the reason why all the takes I did had problems, but after three takes and doing the other recordings, I was tired of it and just took the last one, which was the best but far from perfect. And then, part of the problem could be that I really haven't been practicing enough recently, and this one is actually pretty demanding in spots. So the recording is sloppy in spots. Whatever the case, this way I can at least tell all the obsessive clowns out in YouTubeLand who worry so much about "FAKE!" and "FALSO!" that the damn recording was entirely unedited (and you can tell)--so that ought to put their minds at rest. As with the other recent keyboard recordings I uploaded, sheet music is available, so anybody who is a reasonably proficient pianist and reads music can learn to play it, even if they're ...
